Join Mark and Dale Winburn of Winburn Steel for a medieval swordmaking class!

This 6 day sword making class is designed to teach you to create a fully functional medieval-period sword from scratch. We will begin by discussing proper sword design and geometry, fully forging a blade, heat treating, and grinding. We will then take you through the entire hilt construction process, including forging a guard and pommel, and creating a wood or leather wrapped handle. Students can expect to leave with a completed sword of their own, and the knowledge and experience to replicate the process on their own.

While this class is open to beginner level students, some forging or blade making experience is recommended. All safety equipment and materials will be provided.

Mark and Dale Winburn of Winburn Steel are a father and son team of bladesmiths, specializing in swords and other historical blades and weaponry. Operating out of Culpeper VA, Mark and Dale have a passion for rediscovering the historical methods of blade making and combining them with new world tools and techniques. Price at check out is class tuition plus $15 booking fee.

Call to make any changes to your registration. Transfers and cancellations must be made more than 14 days before class in order to receive a refund. There is a $75 fee for any transfer, cancellation, or refund.
